What a Disney Fairy Tale Wedding Planning Day Looks Like

Disney wedding planning days are designed to bring all the major decisions together in a short amount of time. Instead of months of back and forth, you get to experience venues, food, and design elements in person, which makes the entire process feel far more real and manageable.

For us, this day combined creativity, logistics, and a lot of excitement as we saw our wedding start to take shape.

Capture Your Moment Photos at Magic Kingdom

We started the morning bright and early at Magic Kingdom with a Capture Your Moment photo session. This was something we really wanted to do as part of our engagement journey, and it felt extra special doing it during such an important planning trip.

The session allowed us to get professional photos in iconic areas of the park before it became too busy. It was relaxed, fun, and honestly a great way to start the day before heading into more structured planning appointments.

If you’re considering engagement photos as part of your Disney wedding journey, this is definitely something we would recommend looking into. We would also highly recommend the first available time slot, as you won’t have as many guests in the background and get that beautiful Florida sunrise lighting.

Disney Wedding Menu Tasting at the Grand Floridian

Next, we made our way to Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort for our full wedding menu tasting. This was one of the moments we had been looking forward to the most.

We met with Disney chefs and planners, talked through our menu choices, and got to try dishes we had planned for the reception. Beyond the food itself, we also discussed presentation, portion sizes, and how everything would work on the day.

We were also shown examples of table settings and decor options, which really helped us visualize the overall look and feel of the reception space. Seeing these elements in person made a huge difference compared to choosing from photos alone.

You will be notified by Disney when it’s your turn to attend a menu tasting session. We were contacted in September, visited in November and our wedding is in April.

Our Disney Wedding Cake Tasting

After the menu tasting, we picked up our complimentary cake tasting kit. This allowed us to try the flavors we had shortlisted in a more relaxed setting later on (we enjoyed them on the beach at the Grand Floridian).

Choosing a cake for a Disney wedding is not just about flavor. It ties into the overall theme, color palette, and presentation of the reception. Sampling the options together made the decision feel much more personal and fun.

Each season has different options to choose from. For our Spring cake kit we chose: Churro Crunch, Bavarian Cream & Berries, Double Chocolate and Confetti with Cookies & Cream filling.

Touring Our EPCOT Reception Venue at Italy Isola

On the day of our menu tasting, Disney held an Open House event where you can tour certain venues, such as the Wedding Pavilion. As we had done this before, and had our photo session that morning, we decided to skip it and instead tour our venues ourselves.

We headed to EPCOT to visit our reception venue at the Italy Isola. Walking the space in person helped us understand layout, guest flow, and where key moments like entrances and speeches would take place.

Italy Isola is such a beautiful location, and seeing it in real life confirmed that it was the right choice for us. Venue tours are such an important part of Disney wedding planning because they allow you to fine tune details that just are not obvious on paper.

In some cases, you will be able to tour a venue with a Cast Member, and others may be available as a self guided tour. As our venue is a public area in the park, we just wandered around it unguided.

Disney Fine Art Photography Consultation

We met with Disney Fine Art Photography at the Grand Floridian’s Francs Studio. This consultation focused on how our wedding photos could be turned into lasting keepsakes like albums and fine art prints.

It was really helpful to see the quality and presentation options in person and to talk through how we want to preserve our wedding memories long term.

This meeting was with our Photography Coordinator and our actual photographer. We discussed our key shots, the vibes we were aiming for, logistics on the day and browsed the available photo albums.

Disney Fine Art Photography were the only department willing to have a physical, in-person meeting with us during our visit. Much like all of the other meetings you have, this one is also available as a Zoom call if you can’t make it to Florida.

What Makes Disney Wedding Planning Feel Different

One thing that really stood out to us is how structured yet personal the Disney wedding planning process feels. You are guided every step of the way, but you still have the freedom to make the day your own.

Being able to meet the chefs, walk the venues, and see design elements in person made everything feel far less overwhelming and far more exciting.

We have had a hiccup or two during our Disney Wedding process, but from what we’ve heard from friends and family, that’s just what comes with planning a wedding. Not everything goes to plan and it’s not always smooth sailing, but every time we’ve met a member of our planning team physically or virtually, we’ve had an incredibly supportive, positive and helpful experience!

Try to schedule multiple appointments on the same trip.
Bring inspiration but stay open to Disney’s suggestions.
