Disneyland’s 70th Anniversary was an unforgettable celebration that truly brought the magic to life. While the 60th Anniversary was sophisticated and filled with classic Disney magic, the 70th was all about fun, upbeat vibes, and celebrating happiness. From incredible parades and shows to exclusive merchandise and food, this was a party for the ages. Here’s our experience at Disneyland’s 70th Anniversary celebration and everything that made it so special.

Disneyland 70th Anniversary – A Celebration Like No Other
The atmosphere at Disneyland’s 70th Anniversary was electric, fun, energetic, and filled with celebrations at every corner. The Jonas Brothers’ theme song set the tone for the celebration, and we were blown away by the upbeat mood all around the park. Unlike the 60th, which felt more sophisticated, the 70th was pure joy. We couldn’t help but feel the excitement as we explored Disneyland and Disney California Adventure.
Special Shows That Added Magic to the Celebration
We made sure to catch every special show for the 70th Anniversary, and each one added a unique layer of magic to the celebration. Here’s what stood out to us:
World of Color Happiness: A beautiful blend of water, light, and music that brought the celebration to life.
Paint the Night: This nighttime show was absolutely worth the wait! The floats, lights, and music were all spectacular, and it’s now one of our favorite nighttime shows at Disneyland.
Wondrous Journeys: This was one of the highlights of our 100th Anniversary trip, so we couldn’t miss it during the 70th. The fireworks, projections, and music were just as stunning as before.
Better Together Parade: The floats and cast were full of energy, and the parade was a joyful addition to the celebration.
Walt Disney a Magical Life: This show, narrated by Bob Iger, touched our hearts. The recap of Walt’s life and achievements, paired with the incredible animatronic of Walt Disney, brought tears to our eyes, especially since we’ve been on a Walt history kick recently.
Tapestry of Happiness: This was another fun show that truly captured the spirit of the 70th Anniversary celebration.
New Food and Merchandise for the 70th Anniversary
While we didn’t have much time to shop on our short visit, we couldn’t resist checking out the special 70th Anniversary merchandise. We loved the Vault Collection, which reminded us of Disney World’s 50th Anniversary collection. Our favorite item? A zip hoodie from the Walt Disney collection.
As for food, we sampled several of the 70th-themed treats. The 70th Celebration Macaron was definitely a winner. It had vanilla bean buttercream, strawberry jam, fresh strawberry, strawberry whipped topping, and strawberry crunch – delicious! On the other hand, the 70th churros didn’t quite hit the mark for us, but we’re glad we tried them.
Parades and Shows: Our Favourites from the 70th Celebration
We watched every parade and show during the 70th Anniversary celebrations, but a few really stood out:
Wondrous Journeys: We’ve always loved this fireworks show, and it was just as stunning during the 70th. If you want to see the fireworks from a good spot, we recommend watching Paint the Night first and then staying in the same area for Wondrous Journeys to catch the best view.
Walt Disney a Magical Life: This show was incredibly moving, especially when it led up to the incredible animatronic of Walt Disney. The entire experience was emotional, and it was truly special to see Walt brought to life.
Paint the Night: This parade was definitely worth the wait. The floats were beautifully designed, the lights were mesmerizing, and the cast brought so much energy to the celebration.
Decor and Ride Upgrades
Disneyland really went all out with the decor for the 70th Anniversary. From the large 70th emblems to the vibrant pops of purple, pink, blue, and yellow throughout the parks and Downtown Disney, everything felt festive and fun. We also loved the little touches, like the 70th stickers added to Toy Story Mania and the finale verse of “It’s a Small World,” which was composed by Richard Sherman before his passing. These special additions truly made the 70th feel like a celebration of Disney’s history and magic.
A Fun, Energetic Atmosphere
The atmosphere at Disneyland during the 70th Anniversary was filled with excitement, and while the park was busy, it wasn’t nearly as crowded as our visit during the runDisney Half Marathon. The energy in the park was contagious, and it was the perfect environment for celebrating the magic of Disneyland’s 70 years.
A Celebration to Remember
Disneyland’s 70th Anniversary was a magical and unforgettable celebration filled with exciting parades, stunning shows, and festive decor. Whether it was the emotional tribute to Walt Disney, the fun-filled Paint the Night parade, or the special 70th-themed food, this anniversary had something for everyone. It was truly a celebration of happiness, and we feel lucky to have been part of it.
