Rustic Glamping Near Yellowstone – Wander Camp Yellowstone

ISLAND PARK, ID

HEY STRANGERS!

Nestled just 20-25 minutes outside of West Yellowstone, Montana and the entrance of Yellowstone National Park, lies a hidden gem that’s redefining the camping experience. If you’re someone who craves the sights and sounds of nature but also yearns for the comforts of home, then a stay at Wander Camp Yellowstone might be just what you’re looking for. In this blog, we’re excited to share our memorable adventure at this off-grid glamping site.

A Royal Retreat in Nature

Wander Camp Yellowstone’s King Tent offers a unique blend of rugged outdoor living and cozy comforts. Equipped with a spacious and comfortable king-sized bed, it provides the perfect haven for a restful night’s sleep. The tent itself is an impressive 216 square feet, 16 feet in diameter and height, offering plenty of room to move around.

What sets this glamping experience apart is the attention to detail. Inside the tent, you’ll find not just the typical camping furniture, but luxurious amenities that include high-thread-count sheets, plush down comforters, pillows, and blankets. A soft rug underfoot, side tables, and leather wingback chairs give it that touch of home that makes your stay even more inviting.

One thing to note is that Wander Camp Yellowstone operates entirely off-grid, which means you won’t find traditional electricity here. Instead, you’ll rely on solar lanterns provided in each tent for lighting. The absence of light pollution makes it the perfect opportunity for stargazing, so be sure to take some time to enjoy the natural beauty of the night sky.

Communal Comfort in Nature

While you’re certainly roughing it less than traditional camping, Wander Camp Yellowstone maintains a rustic charm. The communal bathroom facilities are shared among all guests on the campgrounds. Housed in an on-site trailer, these facilities include flushing toilets, a running sink, and even a warm shower. Keep in mind that the water temperature depends on usage and outdoor conditions, so there may be times when it’s a bit brisk. The bathroom water is not suitable for drinking but can be used for basic hygiene like brushing your teeth.

The camp provides only essential bathroom supplies, such as toilet paper, hand soap, and paper towels, so be sure to bring your own towels and any other personal toiletries you might need.

Nature in All Weather

Wander Camp Yellowstone is open come rain or shine, making it a great destination year-round. However, this means that you should pack accordingly for any weather conditions, as this immersive outdoor experience fully embraces nature’s unpredictability. We visited in mid-September and opted to pay the extra $20 for a propane heater, it was well worth it but could have used two!

Access and Off-Grid Living

Parking is available on-site in a designated area, but be prepared to walk a short distance of a couple hundred feet to reach your tent. Fortunately, we were able to park directly next to our tent so it may depend on where your tent is located.

Wander Camp Yellowstone prides itself on offering an off-grid experience that allows guests to unplug and reconnect with nature. Solar power is used throughout the camp, and guests are encouraged to bring their own USB battery-operated chargers for devices, as no public utilities, especially electricity, are available.

With the complete silence of the night, we heard the howls of (what we assume was) a pack of wolves somewhat nearby and even heard the munching of grass from directly outside of our tent as a deer enjoyed a snack. Remember to keep your food locked away and as secure as possible in the trunk of your car.

Additional Comforts and Adventures

For those who desire extra comfort or adventure, Wander Camp Yellowstone offers a range of add-ons for an additional cost. You can enhance your experience with a propane-generated heater, perfect for cooler evenings. If you plan to bring your furry friend along, there’s a nonrefundable pet deposit available to accommodate your four-legged family member.

In nearby Island Park, Idaho, you can find a couple gas stations and a very nice convenience store for any food or essential items you may have forgotten on your travels.

In Conclusion

Our stay at Wander Camp Yellowstone’s King Tent was a true escape from the ordinary. With a harmonious blend of outdoor living and cozy indulgences, this rustic glamping experience provided the best of both worlds. If you’re seeking a unique adventure that immerses you in nature without sacrificing the comforts of home, Wander Camp Yellowstone should be at the top of your list for your next getaway.
