Day Ten of our West Coast Road Trip: Yosemite National Park

YOSEMITE, CA

HEY STRANGERS!

Hey there, fellow travelers! Jake and Georgia back at it with Day Ten of our West Coast road trip. Buckle up for another day of adventure, stunning sights, and a dash of heartbreak.

Our day began in our charming little cabin Airbnb just a stone’s throw from Yosemite National Park. It was a cozy haven with all the comforts we needed, including a warm and refreshing shower that was pure bliss.

Bright and early, we packed up our gear and had a brief rendezvous with some of the friendly farmyard animals that called our Airbnb’s land home. With our hearts warmed by these furry friends, we set our sights on Yosemite National Park.

Around 30 minutes later, we arrived at the park gates, marking the beginning of our journey into the heart of Yosemite. An hour of breathtaking scenery later, we pulled into the Yosemite Valley Lodge.

After parking, we made a beeline for the reception to grab our tickets for the Yosemite Valley Floor tour. This two-hour tram tour promised to showcase some of the park’s most iconic vistas. But first, we explored the lodge and soaked in its rustic charm.

Then came the highlight of our day: boarding the quirky open-air tram with our park ranger guide. The guide was a fantastic mix of entertainment and information, sharing us with tales of the park’s history and the vibrant rock climbing scene that calls Yosemite home.

Our tour made two memorable stops, the first offering panoramic views of Bridal Veil Falls and the second being Tunnel View, where we gazed down the valley and caught sight of majestic landmarks like Half Dome and The Three Brothers.

With the tour wrapped up, we headed to the quick-service restaurant for a delicious meal. Our appetites sated, we embarked on a short hike to marvel at Yosemite Falls, a sight that never fails to impress.

Then, it was time to hit the road again, this time bound for San Francisco. A three-hour drive whisked us through the beauty of Northern California until we reached our waterfront hotel in Oakland, just across the bay from San Francisco. After a bit of exploring, we called it a day and retreated to our room.

Now, here’s the heartbreak. One of Jake’s most anticipated stops on this trip was the Walt Disney Family Museum, a treasure trove of Walt Disney’s life and work. It’s nestled right next to the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco. But here’s the kicker: the museum is closed on the very days we’re in the city – Monday to Wednesday. Talk about a bummer.

Nevertheless, we’re determined to make the most of our day in San Francisco tomorrow! Keep an eye on our Instagram for real-time updates on our adventures. Until then, stay curious and keep exploring!
